MARIA CRISTINA FALLS

more photos

One of the tallest waterfalls in the Philippines is Maria Cristina Falls. Because a sizable boulder at the edge of the waterfall divides the water flow, it is also known as the "twin falls." Despite the fact that the water is occasionally controlled, the twin falls are not frequently seen. The falls never fail to enthrall visitors due to their surrounding lush vegetation and strong water surges. Definitely a sight to behold!

You should be aware, however, that the falls serve as one of Mindanao's primary power sources. Therefore, it is well guarded.

HOW TO GET THERE
Take the bus to Iligan from Cagayan de Oro if you're there. Take a tricycle in Iligan City to the Buru-un jeep port. Take the jeep heading to Buru-un at the terminal, and request the driver to drop you down to the Maria Cristina Falls. The cost is about 12 Php, and the trip takes under 20 minutes. However, please double check the fare prices since they are subject to change.
